AMIC Technology have introduced A29160 a 5V 1M x 16 / 2M x 8 Nor Flash device that is a drop-in replacement to AMD/FUJITSU SPANSION products in pin-out, sector size, and programming ID.
This complements their 8Mbit offering, A29801 and is available with top / bottom boot block options and to commercial / industrial temperature ranges.

SiliconSystems Inc. have introduced it's new SiliconDrive III solid-state storage platform.
Products include 2.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA) and Parallel ATA (PATA) and 1.8-inch SATA types that offer read speeds up to 100 megabytes per second (MBps) and write speeds to 80MBps.

ISSI have launched the first DDR2 (double data rate) Sdrams which have a x32 bit bus.
The 1.8v, bga device is organised 8Mb x 32 with speeds up to 400MHz (DDR2-800).
The IS43DR32800A will be followed in 2009 by a 16Mb x 32 version, the IS43DR32160A.
ISSI are committed to the x32 dram market with Sdram and DDR parts as well as DDR2.

These Mobile Sdrams have been designed to optimize performance in power sensitive applications.

The EU have lifted duties on imports of Dram made by Hynix Semiconductor from Korea.

Hynix Semiconductor has officially opened their jointly owned 300mm fab, with ST, in Wuxi China.
The total investment is said to be over $2 billion. The fab will supply in volume Dram and Nand Flash. Products from this fab will be duty exempt in the EU.

Many ultra low power Sram vendors, inc. Samsung and Toshiba, have decided to withdraw from this marketplace. MemoTech's suppliers remain committed to these products by providing

End of life notice has been given by Micron on 8Mb x 32 Sdram, part numbers MT48LC8M32B2P and MT48LC8M32B2B5. MemoTech can offer two manufacturers, Hynix and ISSI, who offer suitable alternatives in both standard Tsop86 and Bga90 packages.

Hynix have now secured 10% market share in Q0205 of the fast expanding NAND Flash market after supplying the market for only the last eighteen months. The range will include

Hynix have entered the expanding NAND Flash market with volume production of 256Mb / 512Mb devices using 120nm technology. They also plan
to have 1Gb / 2Gb parts by the year end using 90nm technology. NAND Flash is proving to be the most cost effective technology for non volatile mass storage.
