Protect yourself – always specify your dram modules

When selecting a soldered down dram chip it would be unthinkable not to specify the manufacturer, part number and revision. However, I’ve seen, on multiple occasions, industrial users specify dram modules without the knowledge of the memory chips used on it.

Some dram module manufacturers, particularly those serving mainly consumer markets, can change the memory because they never gave a guarantee of what was used in the first place. This is potentially dangerous, as a change can result in unexpected behaviour from incompatibility.

So, to ensure constant performance you need modules with a fixed bill of materials. The module you approve will then be the same during the product life cycle of your end equipment.

We only supply dram modules with fixed BOMs – because protecting our customers from risk is paramount to us.
